Fostering an authentic connection to place, Locale is a contemporary interpretation of Leederville’s historic architectural character. Embedding seamlessly into the streetscape, the building fabric is natural and inherently timeless, composed predominantly of brick and steel. Rounded edges bring a softness and elegance to the form, enhanced by lush landscaping from every angle.
The design takes cues from the surrounding semi-industrial location and the historical fabric of the area. Current day Leederville was strongly defined by its industrial heritage and post-war European migration which was instrumental in changing the architectural landscape of the area. Brickwork, concrete, terrazzo and arches were all features that were incorporated into new buildings - styles and memories from what was left behind. This new project reinterprets these ideas and adapts them to the current day which makes it resonate with the culture and energy of modern Leederville.

Currently under design, Whitehaus is developing a concept which celebrates the unique Western Australian landscape. The Pinnacles, the sandy beaches of Perth and limestone caves of the South-West have inspired the sculptural form. A sophisticated super-thin concrete cladding is being investigated to enhance the geological form while reducing the solar gain that impacts traditional glass towers

The Web is a Co-working hub in the Pilbara town of Port Hedland. The Web Innovation Centre was created to provide an adaptive work environment that would encourage the growth of small businesses and innovators in the Pilbara region.
YOUTH INVOLVEMENT CENTRE

Award winning youth centre
Whitehaus has designed a building to facilitate the goals of the Youth Involvement Council (YIC) and was awarded with a Commendation in the 2017 WAIA awards. YIC aims to create improved education and life pathways, with the support of skilled staff, delivering programs primarily to indigenous people. These programs focus on the health and nutrition of local underprivileged, at risk or homeless young people aged 10 to 25 who are in need of general support.
